Life in Control, Life in Christ – a strategy to take us beyond meeting the symptoms of people’s needs and into addressing the underlying causes.
While the basic Life INC program takes place at Bethel Assembly of God on Thursday nights, the volunteers from the program are from dozens of different churches. The program has five main components: budget mentoring, classroom, weekly goals, rewards and children’s programs.
Life INC — mentoring & training
Modeled after similar programs in other Love INC ministries, our goal is to restore people’s lives through long-term budget mentoring. Working one-on-one with a budget mentor over the course of a year, a volunteer and a participant will develop spending plans, balance checkbooks and eliminate debt. There will also be interactive 10 week courses to help people build the knowledge, skills, perspectives and connections they need to succeed in the basics of life. Life INC — rewards are key
Each week participants earn things like groceries, gas vouchers, diapers, hair cuts, bus passes etc. These incentives are what will draw people into the Life INC program, help them stick with it when the going is tough, and free up the money they need to pay off debt. These are not giveaways; they are earned, so they can be received with dignity and pride.

“I feel like for the first time in a long-long time there is hope,” concluded another student. Her husband added, “It’s been helpful. It makes you face your money problems and spending habits. Plus, it’s nice to be with people that have the same problems you have.”
